 LWV-WAKE NEWS & EVENTS
Hello ~~first_name~~,
In this newsletter you'll find opportunities to plan, learn, and take action - and all in community with others who also want to make a difference. Planning takes place in committee meetings, learning happens by reading this newsletter, joining Meet & Chats, Timely Topics, Candidate Forums, and committee events. You can take action through volunteering, Action Alerts, and sharing information on social media. And we do all of this in community - you are not alone. Do you want to focus on action? Sign up for a volunteer slot! Like to help plan events, try out a committee meeting. Hope to see you soon!

Help us get the word out! Follow, like us and share on your social channels. LWV-Wake Members can also stay connected with our members-only Facebook group, "LWV-Wake Members Group."
Someone else hasn't signed up, we need you! Sometimes members will say, "If you don't get anyone else, I can do it." Guest what? There are only 5 weeks until election day and early voting starts in half that time. Our goal is to do everything we can to educate and turn out voters in Wake County in advance of the election. Each of us can contribute to the work. Click the Volunteering link (or find the Volunteering page on our website). Whether you have an hour a day or an hour a week - your effort makes a difference. A few highlights:
  • Voter Outreach NCSU campus at event with Mu Omicron chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc on Sept 30th (evening)
  • Postcarding to promote voter turnout on October 1st (afternoon)

  • Voter outreach at the Indigo Girls Concert on October 3rd (evening)

All are welcome. If you have joined LWV-Wake in the last year, we especially want to invite you to join us for this event! We look forward to seeing you there.

Committees make the work happen!
Want to help plan where we focus our events and actions? Join an upcoming committee discussion!
The actual work of the League is largely planned and executed within our committee structure. Members can attend as a guest or volunteer to join discussions that interest you. Joining one (or more) is a great way to meet others with similar interests and learn about how you can help with the work.

 LWVNC NEWS AND EVENTS

Three Constitutional Amendments. Three Lasting Decisions.

This November, North Carolina voters will decide whether to add three amendments to our state Constitution—decisions that could have lasting consequences for voting, local government funding, and the state’s ability to raise revenue. The proposals address absentee voter photo ID, limits on local property tax revenue, and the state income tax rate cap.

LWVNC has taken positions against all three amendments and created a resource explaining what each would do, why the League is concerned, and what voters should know before casting their ballots.

Get informed—and help others do the same. Read and share LWVNC’s 2026 Constitutional Amendments resource, including the
"LWVNC Amendments Position" brief.

 LWVUS NEWS AND EVENTS
On Sept 25, the Supreme Court issued a disappointing decision in LWV v. DHS, allowing the administration’s expanded SAVE voter database to remain in use while litigation continues. You can find the League and our partners' statement here. The decision does not end the LWV case.
Earlier this year, the district court ruled that the expanded SAVE program violated multiple federal laws, and the League and our partners will continue fighting to protect voters and privacy rights as the case returns to the lower courts.

Action Alert: Census Decisions are happening now. Submit public comment now on proposed changes to the 2030 Census
  • Open through October 13, 2026!
